The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially appointed Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori as the Acting National Chairman of the party, following the resignation of Dr. Umar Abdullahi Ganduje. The announcement was made during a meeting of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) held at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.

Dr. Ganduje, who assumed office in August 2023, formally tendered his resignation, which was presented to the NWC by the party’s National Secretary, Senator Suraj Ajibola Basiru.

“In line with Article 14 of our constitution, the motion was moved and duly seconded for the acceptance of the resignation,” Senator Basiru said. “The motion was also moved and carried for the Deputy National Chairman, Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, to assume the office of Acting National Chairman pending the election of a substantive Chairman by the National Executive Committee.”

In his inaugural address, Hon. Dalori expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunity, while paying tribute to the leadership and contributions of his predecessor.

“We are all aware of the significant contributions Dr. Ganduje made during his tenure. Since his assumption of office in August 2023, he provided our party with experienced leadership, steadfast commitment, and a clear sense of direction,” Dalori stated. “On behalf of the entire APC family, I express our heartfelt gratitude to him and wish him full recovery and strength as he focuses on his health and personal well-being.”

Dalori emphasized that his appointment is not a personal victory, but a responsibility he embraces with humility and a clear focus on party unity and reform.

“As someone who has served faithfully within this party and as a longstanding member of the NWC, I assure you of my dedication to carrying out this role with transparency, inclusiveness, and unity of purpose,” he said.

Calling on members of the NWC and all party stakeholders, Dalori urged collective commitment to preserving party discipline, strengthening grassroots structures, and deepening internal democracy in preparation for the 2027 general elections.

He also reaffirmed the party’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope Agenda,” describing it as a “living roadmap” already addressing key national issues in economy, security, and governance.

“The APC remains the political vehicle to drive this transformation, and we will stand by the President in full loyalty and partnership,” he added.

Dalori announced that in the coming days, he would unveil a practical roadmap for the party’s work during the interim period, with emphasis on discipline, reconciliation, communication, member mobilisation, and stakeholder engagement.

He concluded by appealing to all party members to remain united and committed to the ideals of the APC. “Let us honour the past, serve the present, and prepare for a brighter future — as one united and determined APC family.”

Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori, prior to his new role, served as the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the APC and brings years of political experience and party loyalty to his new position.
