Police Rescue Trafficked Ghanaian in Abuja, Warns Public Against Fake Travel Offers

The Nigeria Police Force has rescued a Ghanaian national, Sammed Iddrisu, who was trafficked into Nigeria under false pretenses of securing a European travel visa. The rescue operation, carried out on June 27, 2025, in Abuja, was a result of coordinated efforts between the INTERPOL National Central Bureau (NCB) Abuja and operatives of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command.

According to a press release from the Force Headquarters, signed by Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the operation was initiated following intelligence received on June 16, 2025, from INTERPOL NCB Accra, Ghana. Investigations revealed that the victim’s father, Mr. Nartey Louda, had been defrauded of GHC 55,000 on January 10, 2025, by a trafficker identified as Attah, who promised to secure a French visa and other travel documents for his son.

Believing the promise, Sammed Iddrisu travelled to Abuja on June 25, 2025, expecting to receive his visa. Instead, he was unlawfully detained and forced into online criminal activities tied to the QNET pyramid scheme — a fraudulent operation falsely presented as a legitimate e-commerce business.

Further investigations indicate that other victims, including another Ghanaian national, were also targeted. One individual managed to escape and report the matter to authorities in Ghana, prompting international collaboration that led to the rescue of Iddrisu.

Authorities say reintegration efforts for the rescued victim are underway, while INTERPOL NCB Abuja has launched a manhunt to apprehend all those involved in the trafficking and fraud.

The Nigeria Police Force has issued a strong warning to the public against falling for fraudulent travel offers. Citizens are advised to verify such offers through official diplomatic or immigration channels and report suspicious activities through designated law enforcement contacts.
