A delegation of APC leaders from Plateau State led by Senator Simon Lalong, former Minister Pauline Tallen, and State Party Chairman Rufus Bature has paid a solidarity visit to the new APC National Chairman, Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda, in Abuja.
Lalong said the delegation was in Abuja to celebrate the elevation of their “son” and to express appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership for the appointment.
“Plateau is proud. From deputy national secretary, we now have the national chairman. We must show support and also say thank you to Mr. President,” Lalong stated.
He dismissed concerns over the outcome of the 2023 governorship election in Plateau, saying APC remains strong in the state, with more members defecting to the party.
“Forget about the election; it’s before the tribunal. Even members of the ruling party in Plateau are joining us,” he added.
Tallen described the visit as a show of unity, saying Yilwatda’s appointment would further strengthen APC’s position nationwide.
“Plateau will never disappoint. This is a new Plateau and a new APC. The defection trend will continue in our favor,” she said.
State APC chairman Bature said Yilwatda’s appointment is a recognition of Plateau’s contribution to President Tinubu’s victory in 2023.
“If we were working three hours before, we’ll now work 30 hours a day if possible,” Bature said.
He described Yilwatda as patient, competent, and politically grounded, saying his experience as a REC, minister, and former governorship candidate makes him well-suited to lead the party.
