APC Reaffirms Tony Okocha as Rivers State Chairman, Dismisses Emeka Beke’s Claim

The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed Chief Tony Okocha as the authentic Chairman of the party in Rivers State, dismissing recent media reports and public claims by Mr. Emeka Beke as “false and misleading.”

In an official statement issued on Friday and signed by Felix Morka, CON, the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, the party made it clear that there is no ambiguity regarding the leadership of its Rivers chapter.

> “Chief Tony Okocha is, and remains, the Chairman of the Rivers State chapter of our Party,” the statement read.

The clarification follows a press briefing earlier in the week by Mr. Emeka Beke, a factional figure within the party in Rivers, where he urged the APC to recognize him as the “authentic chairman” of the state chapter. Beke’s comments have fueled speculation about renewed internal rifts within the state’s party structure.

However, the APC leadership described such reports as baseless, urging both party members and the public to disregard any reference to Beke as the party’s Rivers chairman.

> “We urge our teeming members in the state, and the general public, to disregard the said reports or reference to Mr. Beke as State Chairman of Rivers APC as false and misleading,” Morka added.

The statement appears aimed at quelling any confusion or factional narratives as the party positions itself for upcoming electoral cycles and consolidates its leadership in Rivers State.

Observers say this is the latest in a string of internal disputes that have plagued the APC in Rivers, a state seen as politically strategic ahead of 2027.
