Armed Forces Record Major Gains Against Terrorists, Bandits Across Nigeria

The Armed Forces of Nigeria have announced significant operational successes in the past week, with hundreds of terrorists neutralized, dozens arrested, and kidnapped victims rescued in coordinated land and air operations across all theatres of operation.

Speaking at the weekly press briefing at Defence Headquarters, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, said troops working alongside Hybrid Forces, local security outfits, and other agencies have intensified raids, ambushes, patrols, and air strikes targeting insurgents, bandits, and criminal networks nationwide.

“Our gallant troops have continued to demonstrate courage, resilience, and determination to dismantle terrorist networks, defeat banditry, and secure all troubled parts of the country,” Kangye stated.

NORTH EAST – OPERATION HADIN KAI
Between August 7 and 13, troops in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa States engaged Boko Haram, ISWAP, and JAS fighters in multiple locations, killing scores of insurgents, arresting 37 suspects, and rescuing 5 kidnapped victims. Weapons, ammunition, vehicles, motorcycles, and improvised explosive devices were recovered and safely destroyed.

In Katsina, Sokoto, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kebbi, and other flashpoints, troops eliminated terrorists, arrested 11 suspects, and freed 17 abductees during offensive operations. Notable successes were recorded in Birnin Gwari, Maradun, and Chikun LGAs, with several terrorists neutralized in Tangaza and Tureta between August 10 and 11.

NORTH CENTRAL – OPERATION SAFE HAVEN
Troops in Plateau, Kaduna, and Bauchi States killed terrorists, arrested 4 suspects, and rescued 6 hostages. A key arrest occurred on August 10, when a suspected gunrunner was intercepted on Kwoi–Keffi Road, concealing an AK-47 and ammunition in a sack of animal feed.

NORTH CENTRAL – OPERATION WHIRL STROKE
Operations in Benue, Taraba, Kogi, and the FCT led to the elimination of armed groups, the arrest of 13 suspects, and the rescue of 9 victims. On August 11, troops arrested two notorious gunrunners in Kogi and seized a large cache of ammunition from an extremist hideout in Taraba.

SOUTH-SOUTH – OPERATION DELTA SAFE
Troops thwarted oil theft valued at over ₦37.5 million, seizing 24,575 litres of stolen crude oil, 9,140 litres of illegally refined diesel, and 2,650 litres of petrol. Multiple illegal refining sites were dismantled, and 34 suspects—including oil thieves, kidnappers, and cultists—were arrested in Rivers, Delta, and Bayelsa States.

SOUTH EAST – OPERATION UDO KA
Security forces sustained operations against IPOB/ESN militants and other criminal elements in Imo, Anambra, and Ebonyi States, killing several fighters and arresting 7 suspects, including a kidnapper.

Major General Kangye reaffirmed the military’s commitment to restoring peace and enabling citizens to go about their livelihoods without fear.
