Army Relocates Special Forces School from Buni Yadi to Nasarawa

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has laid the foundation for the new Nigerian Army Special Forces School (NASFS) in Doma, Nasarawa State, describing the initiative as a milestone that will transform the training of elite troops.

This was contained in a statement signed on Saturday by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Appolonia Anele in Abuja

According to the Army, the relocation of the school from Buni Yadi in Yobe State is aimed at providing a more suitable environment for advanced and mission-specific training. The Buni Yadi facility will now serve as the Nigerian Army Acclimatization Center, focusing on preparing troops for operations in the North East.

Lt Gen. Oluyede said the new school represents “a legacy of excellence, bravery and sacrifice” and will produce highly skilled fighters capable of dominating complex and unconventional battlefields. He also pledged to continue delivering world-class training and equipment to ensure Nigeria’s Special Forces remain at par with their global counterparts.

In addition to unveiling the NASFS project, the COAS also commissioned two key facilities in Doma — the new 4 Special Forces Command Headquarters and a modern Officers’ Mess equipped with operational workspaces, conference halls, and recreational amenities to boost morale and efficiency of personnel.

Earlier in Lafia, General Oluyede paid a courtesy visit to Nasarawa State Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule. The governor commended the Army’s role in maintaining peace and stability, which he said has enabled farming and mining activities to thrive despite security challenges in the region.

The ceremony in Doma also featured a symbolic tree-planting exercise, a gift presentation by the Andoma of Doma in honor of the COAS, and a group photograph with dignitaries.
