In a strategic move aimed at strengthening leadership and boosting operational effectiveness, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has approved the posting and appointment of senior officers into key command, instructional, and staff positions across formations and units of the Nigerian Army.
The development was announced in a statement released on Sunday in Abuja by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Apollonia Anele.
According to the statement, the redeployment exercise affects several Principal Staff Officers (PSOs) at the Army Headquarters, two General Officers Commanding (GOCs), Corps Commanders, Commandants of training institutions, Brigade Commanders, and other critical appointments within the Army’s administrative and operational structure.
Principal Staff Officers at Army Headquarters
Maj Gen AA Adeyinka has been posted from the Nigerian Army Corps of Supply and Transport (NACST) to the Department of Army Logistics as Chief of Logistics (Army).
Maj Gen AA Adekeye moves from the Department of Standard and Evaluation to the Department of Personnel Management as Chief of Personnel Management (Army).
Maj Gen TB Ugiagbe from Headquarters Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps is now Chief of Standard and Evaluation.
Maj Gen AA Idris joins from the Defence Headquarters as Chief of Military Intelligence (Army).
Maj Gen MO Erebulu has been appointed Provost Marshal (Army), moving from the Department of Special Services and Programmes.
Other Senior Appointments
Maj Gen EA Anaryu from the Defence Space Administration is now Corps Commander Supply and Transport.
Maj Gen SA Akesode has been appointed Head of Mission, African Union Verification Mission in Tigray Region, Ethiopia.
Maj Gen JE Osifo moves from the Nigerian Army School of Finance and Accounts to the Nigerian Army Finance Corporation as Director General.
New General Officers Commanding (GOCs)
Maj Gen ASM Wase has been appointed GOC 1 Division/Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
Maj Gen CR Nnebeife becomes GOC 2 Division/Commander Sector 3 Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA.
Training Institutions Commandants
Maj Gen MO Ihanuwaze has been appointed Commandant, Nigerian Army Finance School and Administration.
Maj Gen KO Osemwegie is the new Commandant, Army Signal School.
Maj Gen AJ Aliyu has been appointed Commandant, Nigerian Army Ordnance School.
Maj Gen AC Adetoba moves to the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management as Commandant.
Brigade Commanders
Brig Gen M Jimoh has been appointed Commander, 1 Brigade.
Brig Gen NE Okoloagu is now Commander, 2 Brigade.
Brig Gen AA Bello becomes Commander, 6 Division Garrison/Sector 3 JTF South South, Operation DELTA SAFE.
Lieutenant General Oluyede charged the newly appointed officers to redouble their efforts in the fight against terrorism, insurgency, and other security threats, while also assuring them of the Army’s continued commitment to the welfare of troops as a cornerstone of operational success.
