The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has underscored the importance of effective record keeping and data management in driving operational efficiency, strengthening strategic decision-making, and ensuring accountability in the Nigerian Army.
Speaking at the opening of the Army Headquarters Department of Military Secretary Data Management and Record Keeping Seminar 2025 in Abuja, the COASrepresented by the Deputy Director General, Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre, Major General Philip Eromosele said the seminar reflects the Army’s commitment to modern approaches in managing data and records.
He noted that accurate data management is essential for monitoring progress, identifying gaps, and tackling emerging security challenges. He further emphasized the need for high standards in data storage and document security across all levels of the Army.
Reaffirming the Army’s loyalty to its constitutional mandate, General Oluyede assured Nigerians of the force’s determination to safeguard the country’s security and unity under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces.
In his remarks, the Military Secretary (Army), Major General Everest Okoro, said the seminar aims to entrench global best practices in record keeping and adapt to evolving technological trends. He expressed appreciation to the COAS for his visionary leadership in guiding the Department toward its goals.
The three-day seminar, themed “Effective Data Management and Record Keeping: A Key Element in Ensuring a Professional Nigerian Army in a Digital Era,” is being held at the Armed Forces Officers’ Mess, Asokoro, Abuja.
