DICON, dmg Events Sign MoU to Host Africa Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX) 2026 in Lagos

The Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UK-based dmg Events to co-host the maiden edition of the Africa Defence Exhibition (AFRIDEX) in Lagos.

The agreement was formalised during the African Chiefs of Defence Staff Summit 2025, which is ongoing at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre, Abuja. The Director General of DICON, Major General B.I. Alaya, signed on behalf of the corporation, while Nick Ornstien represented dmg Events.

Scheduled to hold from 26 to 29 October 2026, AFRIDEX is set to become Africa’s largest defence and security exhibition. The event will showcase cutting-edge technologies and innovative solutions in the defence sector, featuring armoured vehicles, aircraft, naval vessels, drones, weapons, ammunition, and other advanced systems.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Nigeria’s Chief of Defence Staff, General C.G. Musa, alongside several African Chiefs of Defence Staff, defence attachés, and dignitaries from across the continent.

Organisers say AFRIDEX 2026 will serve as a strategic platform for fostering partnerships, driving technology transfer, and strengthening defence collaboration across Africa. It will also provide opportunities for local and international defence companies to display their capabilities, exchange knowledge, and explore investment opportunities.

Beyond enhancing regional security cooperation, the exhibition is expected to boost Nigeria’s defence sector and contribute to broader economic growth by positioning Africa as a hub for defence innovation and collaboration.
