
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, is attending the 27th INTERPOL African Regional Conference in South Africa, where top security chiefs from across the continent are gathered to strengthen international collaboration against transnational crime.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the high-level forum has attracted more than 200 police chiefs and security experts from 56 countries. Discussions are focused on cross-border policing, intelligence sharing, and tackling emerging security challenges.
Egbetokun is scheduled to deliver a paper titled “Cattle Theft in West Africa: A Conduit for Terrorism and CBRNE Threats.” His presentation will highlight the links between organized crime, terrorism financing, and emerging threats involving chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and explosive (CBRNE) materials in the sub-region.
On the sidelines of the conference, the IGP will hold bilateral talks with INTERPOL President, Major General Naser Alraisi, and INTERPOL Secretary General, Valdecy Urquiza. The meetings will focus on deepening intelligence cooperation, strengthening mutual legal assistance, and reinforcing Nigeria’s commitment to regional and global security efforts.
The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its determination to remain a reliable partner in international law enforcement while safeguarding the lives and property of Nigerians at home and abroad.
