The Nigeria Police Force has secured a major diplomatic and professional milestone as Commissioner of Police Olubode Ojajuni was elected into the INTERPOL Africa Committee.
Ojajuni’s election took place during the 27th INTERPOL African Regional Conference held in Cape Town, South Africa, giving Nigeria the fifth seat on the Committee for a two-year tenure.
According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the INTERPOL Africa Committee plays a key advisory role to the Regional Conference. It also identifies crime priorities, strengthens cross-border police cooperation, promotes best practices, and develops initiatives to tackle regional and continental security threats.
The development further underscores Nigeria’s rising influence in international policing, particularly in combating transnational crime, terrorism, and other emerging global security challenges.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, congratulated CP Ojajuni on the victory and reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to professionalism, integrity, and global cooperation. He pledged continued engagement with international partners to strengthen peace and security worldwide.
