Abuja Indigenes Disown Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf, Say He’s from Kaduna State

The Concerned Indigenes of Abuja under the Karu Community Chapter have publicly disowned Mr. Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf, accusing him of falsely parading himself as an indigene of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

In a statement signed by the group’s coordinator, Comrade Shekwonya Ayuba, the community insisted that Mr. Yusuf is not from Abuja but hails from Kaduna State, where he previously contested for political office.

“While Abuja remains the Federal Capital and welcomes all Nigerians, we strongly reject any attempt to exploit this openness for political manipulation or ethnic misrepresentation,” the statement read in part.

The group alleged that Mr. Yusuf’s activities and recent political commentaries were misleading and aimed at undermining the voices of Abuja’s true indigenes, particularly on sensitive issues such as land rights, federal appointments, and representation.

According to the Karu community, their clarification was necessary to protect the integrity, heritage, and political rights of FCT indigenes who, despite their sacrifices for the creation of Nigeria’s capital, continue to face marginalization.

They also called on media houses, political stakeholders, and the public to disregard any claim by Mr. Yusuf of Abuja ancestry, describing such assertions as “false, misleading, and politically motivated.”

The statement comes at a time of renewed agitation by FCT natives for stronger constitutional recognition and guaranteed political representation at the federal level.

As of press time, Mr. Yunusa Ahmadu Yusuf had not responded to the allegations or issued a public statement.
