Operation Egwua A Tite II: Troops Record Major Gains in Kogi State

Troops of the 12 Brigade, Nigerian Army, have recorded significant successes in the ongoing Operation Egwua A Tite II aimed at tackling banditry and restoring peace in Kogi State. The operation, which began on 1 September 2025, has seen the neutralization of several bandits, rescue of kidnapped victims, and recovery of weapons.

According to a statement by Lt. Hassan Abdullahi, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations, the troops have conducted multiple clearance and ambush operations in Tunga, Ankomi, Aleke, Ungwan Soni, and Ungwan Nyaba communities.

Key Highlights of the Operation:

1 September: Troops of 126 Battalion, with Other Hybrid Forces, engaged bandits in Tunga general area, killing two during a firefight.

2 September: With air support from 405 Helicopter Combat Training Group, troops launched an air strike in Ankomi, neutralizing scores of fleeing bandits.

3 September: Clearance operations in Aleke, Ungwan Soni, and Ungwan Nyaba led to the rescue of Mr. Pabo Suleiman and his two children, who have since reunited with their family. Five locally made dane guns were also recovered.

5 September: A fierce gun battle near Tunga resulted in the killing of notorious bandit leader Kachalla Bala and five of his fighters. On the same day, troops ambushed a bandit courier at Agbede–Adankoo Bridge, recovering one motorcycle, two mobile phones, and an AK-47 magazine loaded with 20 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition.


Brigadier General Kasim Umar Sidi, Commander of 12 Brigade and Force Commander of Operation Accord III, praised the troops for their resilience and professionalism. He emphasized that the Brigade remains committed to dominating troubled areas with patrols, ambushes, and clearance operations until peace is fully restored.

The Army urged residents to continue supporting ongoing operations with timely and credible information, stressing that cooperation with security agencies is vital to sustaining peace across Kogi and neighbouring states.
