
Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have killed 11 Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists and recovered a cache of weapons and motorcycles in separate operations in Borno and Adamawa States.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Media Information Officer of OPHK, Lt. Col. Sani Uba, said the operations were carried out on September 15, 2025, in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State and Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
According to him, troops of Sector 3 on a patrol along the Baga–Cross Kauwa Main Supply Route in Kukawa came under ambush when terrorists detonated an improvised explosive device and opened fire. The troops repelled the attack with superior firepower, killing eight insurgents, including two Munzirs and a Qaid identified as Modu Dogo of Dogon Chukun and Abu Aisha of Tumbun Mota. Several others were reported to have escaped with gunshot wounds.
Recovered items included 14 motorcycles, AK-47 rifles with magazines, rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, anti-aircraft links, blankets, drugs, and other logistics materials. Two gun trucks abandoned by the terrorists were destroyed by the Air Component of OPHK, with support from the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) ISR platform. No casualties were recorded on the side of the troops.
In a separate operation the same day, troops of Sector 1, working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and local hunters, conducted an offensive raid on terrorist hideouts in Umbo, Madagali LGA of Adamawa State. Three terrorists were killed in the encounter, while others fled with injuries. Troops recovered additional AK-47 rifles, several rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, and a mobile phone.
The Military High Command commended the troops for their bravery and urged residents to continue providing timely and credible information to aid counter-terrorism efforts in the North East.
