
Troops of the Nigerian Army have neutralized two terrorists and recovered arms and ammunition during a successful operation in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The operation, conducted by troops of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) under Operation Lafiya Nakowa, was launched on Monday, September 15, 2025, following credible intelligence of a planned attack on Chanchanji community by the Bojo terrorist group.
According to a statement signed by the Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 3 Division Nigerian Army, Lt. Col. Aliyu Danja, troops swiftly moved to the Demeva–Chanchanji road where they engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight, killing one and forcing others to flee.
A follow-up mission led the troops to the Demeva–Gbudu axis, identified as a crossing point into Ananum community in Donga LGA. Another exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in the death of one more terrorist.
Items recovered from the operation include:
One G3 rifle
Sixteen rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
One motorcycle
Commander 6 Brigade / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, praised the troops for their gallantry and professionalism. He reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against criminal elements across Taraba State.
General Uwa further urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to help restore lasting peace in the region.
