Troops Sustain Pressure, Disrupt Terror Supply Chains, Arrest Suspects in Borno, Adamawa

Troops of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation HADIN KAI have continued to sustain pressure against insurgents under Operation Desert Sanity IV, recording major breakthroughs between 19 and 24 September 2025 in Borno and Adamawa States.

In a series of coordinated operations, troops intercepted smuggled fuel and fertilizer supplies, neutralised a suspected Boko Haram scout, and arrested key individuals linked to terrorist logistics and attacks.

According to the Military Information Office, Joint Task Force North East Operation HADIN KAI, Lt. Col. Sani Uba said troops seized 21 jerricans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in separate operations within the Mubi axis of Adamawa State. On 19 September, 232 Battalion (Tactical) and Sector 4 Special Forces recovered seven jerricans at Vintim, Mubi South LGA. Two days later, nine more were intercepted along Fillin Ball–Gella road in Mubi South, while five jerricans were seized on 24 September at Tsamiya, Mubi North.

Troops also uncovered large quantities of urea fertilizer on 21 and 24 September in Mubi Central Market. The suspected suppliers fled on sighting soldiers, abandoning the consignments. The military said these consistent interceptions have disrupted insurgents’ logistics and their capacity to manufacture Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).

On 22 September, troops of 73 Battalion (Motorised), working with the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and Hybrid Forces, laid an ambush at Kolori Karumi, near Alau Dam in Borno State. At about 10:15 pm, contact was made and a suspected Boko Haram scout was neutralised.

The following day, troops of 112 Task Force Battalion at Forward Operating Base Ngwom arrested Thomas James, 54, with 23 bottles of PMS concealed in a bag. He was reportedly en route to Gamboru Ngala from Maiduguri when intercepted. Preliminary investigations linked him to terrorist fuel supply networks. He has since been handed over to the 7 Military Intelligence Brigade.

Similarly, on 24 September, acting on credible intelligence, 232 Battalion troops with hunters arrested Ahmadu Buba, 31, at Garkida in Gombi LGA, Adamawa State. The suspect, from Sabon Gari Kimba in Damboa, confessed to joining Boko Haram in April 2025 and admitted participating in recent attacks, including the destruction of Mandahuma Bridge in June and the assault on Mandaragirau Sabon Gari Kimba in August.

The Military High Command praised troops for their “impressive battle performance” and urged them to sustain the aggressive operational tempo.
