Troops Foil Bandits’ Attack, Neutralize Two in Taraba

Troops of 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have foiled a terrorist attack in Taraba State, neutralizing two terrorists and recovering weapons.

The operation, conducted under the ongoing Operation LAFIYA NAKOWA, took place on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, following credible intelligence about a planned attack.

According to the Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations
6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Lt. Umar Mohammed noted that troops advanced to Tor Ikyeghgba village after receiving reports of bandits converging in the area. On arrival at the Powerline axis, they came under contact and swiftly engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, killing two.

Items recovered from the operation include:One locally fabricated pistol, Two Dane guns, Three rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, One Baofeng radio and One motorcycle, among other items.

Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade, commended the troops for their swift response and professionalism. He assured residents of Taraba that the Brigade remains committed to restoring peace and security in the state.

The Army also urged members of the public to support ongoing operations by providing credible and timely information to aid the fight against banditry and terrorism.
