TROOPS  RESCUE KIDNAPPED VICTIMS IN KWARA, INTENSIFY OPERATIONS AGAINST INSECURITY

Troops of the Nigerian Army under Operation FANSAN YAMMA have successfully rescued two kidnapped victims in Efagi village, Lafiagi, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State, following a swift response to a kidnap incident that occurred in the early hours of Friday, October 10, 2025.

According to a statement signed by Captain Stephen Nwankwo, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 22 Armoured Brigade, Ilorin, the troops—attached to 2 Division/Sector 3 of the ongoing operation—mobilised immediately upon receiving information about the abduction.

Working in collaboration with local vigilantes, the troops tracked the kidnappers and engaged them in a fierce gun battle. The superior firepower of the troops forced the bandits to abandon their victims and flee into the bush.

During the encounter, one soldier and a vigilante member sustained gunshot wounds and were promptly evacuated to a medical facility for treatment. The rescued victims have since been reunited with their families, while troops continue to comb the surrounding area to ensure the criminals are apprehended.

Commending the troops for their gallantry and professionalism, the Commander of 22 Armoured Brigade, Brigadier General Ezra Barkins, reaffirmed the Brigade’s determination to sustain aggressive operations against criminal elements threatening peace and stability in Kwara and neighbouring states.

He also appealed to residents to continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies to aid ongoing counter-criminality efforts in the region.
