Troops Clear Terrorist Hideouts in Taraba, Recover Arms and Motorcycle

Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army, under Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), have recorded another significant success in their ongoing clearance operations code-named Operation Lafiya Nakowa aimed at flushing out terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements from Taraba State.

According to a statement signed by Lt. Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, the troops conducted the operation on 14 October, following credible intelligence on the hideouts of suspected terrorists around Badekoshi, Fajul, Kurmi, and Dampar villages in Ibi Local Government Area.

Acting on the information, the troops launched a series of clearance operations in the identified locations. During the operation at Badekoshi, the soldiers encountered the terrorists, who fled toward Fajul village following intense gunfire from the advancing troops. The soldiers pursued the fleeing criminals, forcing them to abandon their positions and retreat deeper into the forest.

A thorough search of the area led to the recovery of one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, one round of 7.62mm special ammunition, five rounds of blank ammunition, two fragmental jackets, two military camouflage uniforms, and a Jincheng motorcycle suspected to have been stolen during a previous attack at Tapga village.

The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their professionalism and resilience. He urged them to sustain the tempo until all criminal elements are completely neutralized and peace is fully restored in Taraba State.

The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to safeguarding law-abiding citizens and pledged to continue working with other security agencies and local communities to ensure lasting peace and stability across the state.
