Troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army / Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have intensified clearance operations under Operation Lafiya Nakowa, destroying a major bandits’ camp in Takum Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The operation, conducted on October 31, 2025, followed credible intelligence reports on the activities of armed bandits operating around Unom, Yongogba, Tornyi, and Mbayongo villages in Takum LGA.
According to a statement by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, the troops carried out a clearance patrol through Tor-Tser, Kofar Ahmadu, Tornyi, Unom, Mbayongo, and Yongogba villages, successfully sanitizing the areas and adjoining river lines.
During the advance, the troops received fresh intelligence at Kofar Ahmadu village indicating the presence of bandits around TY Farm in Tati. The troops immediately moved to the location through Sabon Gida Tati and engaged the criminals. Overpowered by the troops’ superior firepower, the bandits fled deep into the forest.
Subsequent exploitation of the area led to the discovery and destruction of a major bandits’ camp at TY Farm, effectively denying the criminals a safe haven. One Dane gun and other items were recovered from the site.
The Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army / Sector 3 OPWS, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, commended the troops for their gallantry, professionalism, and swift execution of the mission. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to sustaining ongoing operations aimed at restoring peace and stability across Taraba State.
General Uwa also urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies to support the fight against banditry and other criminal activities in the region.
