COAS Applauds NAOWA for Strengthening Home-Front Stability, Boosting Troops’ Morale

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has praised the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA) for its sustained role in promoting home-front stability and improving the welfare of families of Army personnel.

According to a statement signed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lt. Col. Appolonia Anele, he gave the commendation on Tuesday, when the President of NAOWA, Mrs. Safiyya Hassan Shaibu, led members of her executive on a courtesy visit to the Army Headquarters in Abuja.

Lieutenant General Shaibu highlighted NAOWA’s contributions in education, healthcare, community development, and entrepreneurship, describing them as vital to troop morale and overall operational effectiveness. He noted that a stable and supportive home environment enables officers and soldiers to discharge their duties with greater focus and confidence.

The COAS also emphasized the importance of skills acquisition, digital literacy, and media awareness—particularly regarding misinformation—within military families, stressing the increasing impact of technology on national development. He further appealed for NAOWA’s continued collaboration in enhancing the operations of the Army Command and NAOWA Hospital, while urging the extension of support initiatives to members of the Nigerian Army Soldiers’ Wives Association (NASWA).

Earlier, Mrs. Safiyya Hassan Shaibu congratulated the COAS on his appointment and outlined her administration’s vision for a more united, innovative, and impactful NAOWA. She said the association remains committed to expanding empowerment initiatives, digital skills training, and sustainable livelihood programmes for families of Army personnel.

She also announced the establishment of a NAOWA Innovation Hub equipped with modern facilities and expressed plans to revitalise NAOWA projects across Army formations nationwide.
