Oyebamiji Outlines Governorship Ambition, Party Unity Agenda During Visit to APC Media Centre

Governorship aspirant, Bola Oyebamiji, has explained the motivation behind his ambition to lead Osun State, stating that the state needs a focused and credible manager to harness its human and mineral resources for development.

He made this known during an interactive session at the APC Media Centre. Oyebamiji noted that Osun, with an estimated population of five million people, is endowed with valuable human and natural assets that require effective coordination and strategic leadership.

According to him, his experience as a former Commissioner for Finance and Managing Director of the state’s investment company places him in a strong position to drive the state’s growth.

“I am offering myself for service. My records are there. I have worked with two governors as Commissioner for Finance and later resigned as Managing Director of the state’s investment arm. I believe I am the manager Osun needs to deliver real dividends of democracy,” he said.

Addressing questions on the crowded APC governorship race and the involvement of high-profile aspirants, Oyebamiji described the contest as a “friendly match.” He acknowledged Senator Iyiola Omisore as an elder and respected figure in the party but stressed that all aspirants are credible and united.

He dismissed claims of deep-seated crisis within the Osun APC, insisting that the party remains cohesive. “In the last two years, we have not lost a single member to any other party. Instead, millions have joined us. It shows unity, organisation and strength. After the primary, we will all work together for the party’s success,” he said.

On the question of which political camp he belongs to, Oyebamiji maintained that his support base cuts across the party structure. “Everybody is backing me, and above all, God is backing me. APC members across Osun are the ones supporting this project. I can confidently tell you that I am an aspirant to beat,” he stated.

Oyebamiji also explained that he resigned from his public appointment in line with due process and to focus fully on his political ambition. He recalled spending 28 years in the banking sector before transitioning into public service in 2012, where he said he contributed significantly to state administration.

“I come from a private-sector background that values competence and results. I carried that discipline into public service and performed creditably,” he added.
