The Ministry of Police Affairs has taken a major step towards digital transformation with the launch of the Galaxy Backbone Enterprise Content Management (ECM) platform, signaling its transition from manual paperwork to a secure and streamlined digital work environment.
The newly deployed ECM platform is designed to enhance governance, transparency and operational efficiency by replacing traditional paper-based processes with a modern digital system. It integrates key tools such as Gov CMS for workflow management, Gov Email for official correspondence, Gov Conference for virtual meetings and Gov Drive for secure file storage.
The initiative aligns with the Federal Government’s broader vision, spearheaded by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, to fully digitise the federal civil service by December 31, 2025.
Speaking at the launch, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Police Affairs, Dr. Ogbonnaya Anuma Nlia, described the ECM deployment as a significant milestone in the ministry’s journey towards improved governance and institutional efficiency.
According to him, the platform represents more than the introduction of new technology, but the beginning of a new culture built on accountability, transparency, strong institutional memory and operational excellence.
Dr. Nlia highlighted the ECM’s capacity to effectively manage official records, track workflow processes, protect sensitive documents and improve service delivery across all departments. He also commended Galaxy Backbone for its technical partnership, continuous support and commitment to ensuring a seamless deployment of the platform within the ministry.
He urged staff of the ministry to fully embrace the initiative, assuring them of sustained capacity building and user support to ensure successful implementation. “The world we live in is driven by information technology and speed. Technology only delivers its full value when it is fully utilised,” he said.
Also speaking, the Group Head, Research and Digital Development at Galaxy Backbone, Mr. Akintayo Bamidele, described the development as historic, noting that the ministry and the department were setting a new standard in government operations.
He said the adoption of the ECM platform represents a significant shift in how government services are delivered and how public institutions conduct their day-to-day operations.
The deployment of the ECM platform is ongoing across federal ministries, departments and agencies, as efforts continue to ensure a smooth and effective transition to fully digitised work processes across the public service.
