Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, has assured Defence Holdings Company Limited (DHCL) of his administration’s readiness to partner with the company to facilitate the establishment of Defence Farms and Agro-Allied Products (DFAAP) in Wase Local Government Area of the state.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Director, Defence Information, DDI, Maj. Gen. Sumaila Uba in Abuja
The Governor gave the assurance on Tuesday while receiving the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of DHCL, Air Vice Marshal Anthony Victor Ndace, and his delegation at the Government House in Jos.
Governor Mutfwang was represented at the meeting by the Secretary to the State Government, Architect Samuel Jatau.
He commended the vision and mission of DHCL, particularly its intervention in the agricultural sector, and reaffirmed the Plateau State Government’s commitment to the immediate handover of the 30,000 hectares of land already allocated for the take-off of the Defence Farms project in Wase.
According to the Governor, the initiative is expected to significantly boost food production while also enhancing security in Wase and surrounding communities. He further reiterated his administration’s resolve to work closely with DHCL, through the Defence Headquarters, to ensure the smooth and successful implementation of the project.
Governor Mutfwang also praised the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, for his sustained efforts toward peace and national stability, and encouraged members of the DHCL delegation to explore Plateau State’s rich cultural heritage and diverse landscape during their stay.
Speaking earlier, Air Vice Marshal Anthony Victor Ndace said the visit was on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff to express appreciation to the Plateau State Government for the allocation of 30,000 hectares of land at Wase for the initial phase of the Defence Farms and Agro-Allied Products initiative.
He disclosed that the delegation included a technical team tasked with assessing the land and identifying areas of partnership with the state government in line with the Federal Government’s food security agenda.
The DHCL GMD/CEO thanked the state government for the warm reception accorded him and his team and prayed for sustained peace and continued development across Plateau State.
Highlights of the visit included a presentation on the agricultural potential of the 98,000 hectares of land in Wase—of which 30,000 hectares has been designated for the first phase of DFAAP—as well as the exchange of souvenirs and a group photograph involving state officials and members of the DHCL delegation.
