
The Armed Forces of Nigeria have continued their relentless efforts to secure the nation through coordinated military operations across various theatres of conflict.Between 7 and 12 March 2026, troops conducted offensive patrols, fighting patrols, and rapid response missions targeting criminal elements and insurgents across several regions of the country.
According to a statement signed on Friday in Abuja by the Director of Defence Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, troops of Operation HADIN KAI in the North East intensified their offensive against Boko Haram, ISWAP, and JAS terrorists.The operations, which took place between 7 and 11 March 2026, included the interception of terrorist logistics suppliers and the rescue of abducted civilians.
The Director disclosed that on 7 March 2026, three suspected logistics suppliers were arrested in Kanama, Yobe State, while a terrorist tax collector was captured in Kafiya, Geidam Local Government Area.
He said a notable success occurred on 11 March 2026, when troops of Sector 2 in Yobe State, supported by air assets, repelled a multi-directional attack by ISWAP terrorists. During the engagement, troops killed over 20 terrorists, including a high-value target identified as Abu Yusu. Arms, ammunition, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were also recovered during the operation.
North West Operations
Major General Onoja further revealed that in the North West, troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA focused on disrupting criminal activities in Kaduna, Katsina, Sokoto, and Zamfara States.
Troops successfully intercepted arms shipments, neutralized terrorists, and foiled robbery attempts across the region.
One of the key operations occurred on 7 March 2026, when troops rescued kidnapped victims along the Abuja–Kaduna Road after clashing with terrorists in the Mpape–Kuyeri Forest.
In Sokoto State, on 8 March, troops destroyed a terrorist enclave in Tangaza Local Government Area, while several arrests made in subsequent operations helped cripple terrorist logistics networks.
Similarly, on 10 March 2026, in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, troops repelled an attack and arrested a suspected ammunition courier, Mannir Adam, who was found with live ammunition concealed inside his motorcycle.
Operations in Kwara and Niger States
In Kwara and Niger States, troops of Operation SAVANNAH SHIELD carried out counterterrorism and anti-kidnapping operations.
On 7 March 2026, troops responded to a kidnapping report in Nda Kansa, Kwara State, successfully rescuing the victim.
Another operation on 8 March 2026 led to the neutralization of four terrorists in Chita Community, Edu Local Government Area, while four kidnapped victims were rescued during the operation.
Central Nigeria: Operations ENDURING PEACE and WHIRL STROKE
Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE continued security operations across Plateau, Bauchi, and Kaduna States.
On 7 March 2026, troops rescued a kidnapping victim in Plateau State after engaging terrorists.
Meanwhile, troops of Operation WHIRL STROKE, operating across Benue, Taraba, and Nasarawa States, also recorded notable successes.
On 9 March, in Katsina-Ala, Benue State, troops neutralized two terrorists and recovered crucial items including SIM cards and ATM cards, believed to be linked to criminal activities.
South-South Operations
In the South-South region, troops under Operation DELTA SAFE intensified efforts to dismantle criminal networks and protect critical national infrastructure.
On 7 March 2026, troops conducted a raid in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State, resulting in the arrest of two suspects and the recovery of arms and ammunition.
Another success was recorded on 10 March 2026, when troops neutralized three kidnappers in Edo State during a clearance operation in the Egoro Forest.
South-East Operations
In the South-East, troops of Operation UDO KA continued operations against criminal elements linked to IPOB and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
On 7 March 2026, troops carried out a successful route clearance operation along the Eketutu–Uda axis in Imo State, where they discovered and safely dismantled multiple Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted by the criminals.
These operations form part of ongoing efforts to restore peace and disrupt the activities of IPOB/ESN in the region.
Military High Command Commends Troops
Despite the challenges faced across different operational theatres, the military has maintained momentum in tackling terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities.
The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Olatubosun Oluyede, commended the dedication and resilience of the Armed Forces, while also appreciating the support and cooperation of the Nigerian public.
He emphasized that timely intelligence provided by citizens and the support of the media in disseminating accurate information remain vital to the success of military operations.
Condolences to Fallen Soldiers
General Oluyede also extended condolences to the families of soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
He assured that their sacrifices would never be forgotten and reaffirmed the Armed Forces’ commitment to continue the fight until all remnants of insurgent and criminal groups across the country are fully neutralized.
