Easter: APC Chairman Urges Hope, Unity, and Prayers for Nigeria

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Nentawe Yilwatda, has called on Nigerians to embrace hope, sacrifice, unity, and prayer as Christians across the country mark the 2026 Easter celebration.

In his Easter message released on Sunday, by his Special Adviser on Media and Communications Strategy, Abimbola Tooki, Yilwatda described Easter as the cornerstone of the Christian faith, emphasizing its significance as a reminder of the sacrifice, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

He noted that beyond celebration, Easter represents a period of deep reflection on values such as faith, resilience, forgiveness, humility, and hope, particularly in challenging times.
“Easter teaches us that sacrifice is the pathway to glory, that suffering is never the end of the story, and that with faith in God, hope can rise again even in difficult times,” he said.

The APC chairman stressed that the message of Easter remains relevant to Nigeria’s current realities, urging citizens to stay steadfast in faith and patriotism despite the nation’s challenges.

Yilwatda also called on Christians to recommit to virtues such as compassion, unity, righteousness, and service to humanity, adding that Nigeria needs citizens who not only profess faith but live by its values.

Expressing concern over ongoing security challenges, he commiserated with families and communities affected by violence, banditry, insurgency, and kidnapping, describing the losses as a source of national grief.

“At a time like this, we must not allow fear, division, or despair to define us as a people. Rather, we must stand together in unity and resolve, trusting God and supporting lawful efforts to restore peace and security,” he stated.

Yilwatda acknowledged the efforts of the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in addressing insecurity and stabilising the country, noting ongoing interventions and reforms aimed at strengthening the nation’s security framework.

He further urged collaboration among all levels of government, security agencies, community leaders, and citizens to ensure lasting peace and stability.

The APC chairman also encouraged Nigerians to use the Easter season to pray for the nation, its leaders, and security personnel, expressing optimism that the country will overcome its current challenges.

Wishing Christians a peaceful Easter celebration and urged all Nigerians to remain law-abiding and committed to building a united and prosperous nation.
