ABUJA — The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, FCT Command, has trained 260 private security personnel as part of efforts to improve security standards and strengthen collaboration between private security companies and government agencies.
The officers, drawn from 40 private security companies, completed a five-day refresher training programme held in Abuja between August 10 and 14.
The training, conducted at the newly inaugurated FCT Command Training Ground, focused on modern security management and practical skills needed to respond effectively to emerging security challenges.
Speaking during the passing-out ceremony, the FCT Commandant, Dr Olusola Odumosu, said the programme was designed to improve the professionalism and effectiveness of private security personnel operating within the Federal Capital Territory.
He noted that the increasing complexity of security threats requires security personnel to remain properly trained and prepared to respond to changing situations.
The NSCDC said continued training and cooperation among security stakeholders remain important to maintaining safety and protecting residents, businesses and public infrastructure across Abuja.
The development is expected to strengthen the capacity of private security companies while improving their coordination with formal security agencies in the FCT.
