Troops Foil Terrorist Attack, Rescue 31 Abducted Worshippers in Kaduna
Troops of the Nigerian Army have foil
ed a terrorist attack and rescued 31 civilians abducted during an Easter church service in Kaduna State.
The incident occurred at an ECWA Church in Ariko Village, located in Kachia Local Government Area, where worshippers were reportedly taken hostage during the service. According to military sources, the troops responded swiftly after receiving a distress call about the attack.
On arrival, the soldiers, supported by members of the local community, pursued the fleeing terrorists and engaged them in a gun battle. The troops reportedly overpowered the assailants with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon the victims.
Among those rescued was one injured individual who is currently receiving medical attention. However, five victims were confirmed killed, and their remains were recovered at the scene.
Military authorities said the fleeing attackers likely suffered significant casualties, as blood trails were observed along their escape routes.
Security forces have since intensified operations to track down the perpetrators and rescue any remaining captives. Additional troops have also been deployed to the area to strengthen security and prevent further attacks.
The Nigerian Army reiterated its commitment to safeguarding lives and protecting the country’s territorial integrity, urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support ongoing security efforts.
