Kwara APC Crisis: Members Call for Urgent Intervention Over Leadership Disputes

Concerned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State have raised alarm over growing internal divisions, urging the party’s national leadership to step in and restore unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing journalists at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja, the group’s leader, Hon. Toyin Olufasa, said many loyal stakeholders who played pivotal roles in the historic “Otoge” political movement are being sidelined under the current administration of Governor Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq.
Olufasa noted that the “Otoge” movement was instrumental in bringing the APC to power in the state, but expressed concern that several of its key drivers are now being alienated. He warned that the situation could weaken party cohesion and affect its electoral strength if not urgently addressed.
The group reiterated its commitment to ensuring victory for the APC at all levels in the 2027 elections, including support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
However, it cautioned that the ongoing exit of influential members poses a significant risk to the party’s chances.
They also cited rising tensions linked to reported litigations and demolition of properties allegedly associated with prominent party figures, describing such developments as divisive and counterproductive.
The concerned members called on the APC’s national leadership, including the President, Vice President, and National Chairman, to urgently intervene and facilitate reconciliation within the Kwara chapter of the party.
They further urged Governor AbdulRazaq to adopt a more inclusive leadership style and promote unity among party stakeholders.
“Our position remains clear: we seek peace, unity, and progress within the APC in Kwara State. Only through dialogue and reconciliation can the gains of the Otoge movement be sustained,” Olufasa stated.
The group reaffirmed its loyalty to the APC and its commitment to the party’s success in future elections.
