DHQ Arraigns 36 Military Personnel Over Alleged Mutiny

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has inaugurated a General Court Martial to try 36 serving military personnel over allegations of mutiny and attempts to undermine national security.

The development, announced on Friday, April 24, 2026, follows an earlier statement issued by the DHQ on January 26, 2026, addressing concerns related to the matter.

According to a statement signed by the
Director Defence Information, DDI, Major General Samaila Uba in Abuja noted that,
the inauguration of the court martial underscores its commitment to discipline, accountability, and the protection of national integrity. It also reflects the Armed Forces’ resolve to uphold constituted authority and maintain order within its ranks.

The DHQ assured that proceedings will be conducted in line with established legal frameworks governing the military justice system. It emphasized that the trial will adhere strictly to principles of fairness, impartiality, and due process, ensuring that all accused personnel are granted a fair hearing.

“The Armed Forces remain resolute in upholding professionalism, discipline, and the rule of law while safeguarding the rights of all personnel,” the statement noted.

The military reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice is served without bias, as the court martial begins deliberations on the cases.
