Army Public Relations Acting Director Inaugurates NASPRI Second Quarter Courses

The Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Apollonia Anele, has lauded the Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information (NASPRI) for its steady growth and commitment to professional development since its establishment in 2010.
Colonel Anele gave the commendation during the inauguration of the 2026 Second Quarter Courses, held at the Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja Auditorium in the Muhammadu Buhari Cantonment, Giri, Abuja.
In her address, she described the courses as timely and strategic, noting that they are tailored to address emerging challenges in today’s complex security environment. According to her, the programmes incorporate modern techniques in digital warfare and crisis communication, equipping participants with the skills required to manage information effectively in an evolving media landscape.
She emphasized that the rise of digital and social media has significantly changed how military operations are communicated and perceived by the public, stressing the need for personnel to adapt accordingly. Colonel Anele urged participants, particularly those in the Advanced Public Relations Course, to remain disciplined and committed, noting that their role in shaping public perception is vital to ongoing efforts to combat insecurity and terrorism.
Also speaking at the event, the Acting Commandant of NASPRI, Lieutenant Colonel Shuaib Umar, called on students to uphold discipline and demonstrate dedication throughout their training. He reaffirmed the institution’s zero tolerance for indiscipline and commended the Acting Director for her continued support and guidance.
Lt. Col. Umar also praised the efforts of the school’s staff, noting their dedication to delivering quality training aimed at preparing participants for future operational and professional responsibilities.
Earlier, the Acting Chief Instructor, Major Nureni Alimi, provided an overview of the course structure, highlighting its blend of theoretical and practical components designed to enhance both knowledge and hands-on experience. He expressed confidence in the leadership of the Commandant, particularly in updating the curriculum to meet current operational demands.
Participants were reminded to adhere strictly to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and uphold the core values of the Nigerian Army throughout the training period.
The inauguration ceremony featured the formal declaration of the courses open, presentation of souvenirs to the Special Guest of Honour, a symbolic tree-planting exercise, and group photograph sessions, marking the significance of the occasion and NASPRI’s continued role in strengthening military communication and information management.
