Nigerian Military Intensifies Operations, Records Arrests, Rescues and Interceptions Nationwide

The Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) has sustained a series of coordinated military operations across the country, recording significant successes in counter-terrorism, anti-banditry, and anti-kidnapping efforts between April 10 and 16, 2026.

According to a statement issued by the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Michael Onoja, troops maintained pressure on insurgents and criminal elements across multiple operational theatres, leading to the arrest of suspects, rescue of kidnapped victims, and interception of logistics meant for terrorist groups.


According to the statement, In the North-East, troops under Operation Hadin Kai intensified offensives against Boko Haram, ISWAP, and JAS elements. Security forces arrested a suspected logistics supplier in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State, who reportedly confessed to supplying fuel to terrorists for about a decade.
In separate operations in Adamawa and Yobe states, troops apprehended multiple suspects linked to criminal and terrorist activities, including informants accused of tracking military movements.

A major breakthrough according to him, was recorded in Yobe State, where troops intercepted a truck conveying a large cache of medical supplies hidden under cement bags. The consignment, suspected to be destined for terrorist groups, included antibiotics, surgical materials, and other medical items. The driver and his assistants were arrested.

“Further clearance operations across parts of Bauchi, Plateau, and Taraba states led to the dismantling of terrorist camps, neutralisation of fighters, and arrest of key associates, including a deputy to a notorious terrorist leader”. The statement added


It says, Under Operation Fansan Yamma, troops recorded successes across several states in the North-West. In Jigawa State, soldiers recovered improvised explosive device (IED) materials from an abandoned vehicle, while a suspect later surrendered to authorities.

In Kaduna State, troops arrested individuals linked to previous attacks, including the killing of military personnel and abduction incidents. Additional suspects were apprehended in Kebbi and Katsina states, where troops also foiled attacks on communities and disrupted terrorist movements.

Troops under Operations Savannah Shield, Enduring Peace, and Whirl Stroke intensified operations across Niger, Plateau, Kaduna, Benue, Nasarawa, and Kogi states.

In Niger State, troops engaged terrorists during clearance operations, neutralising threats and recovering motorcycles, with no casualties recorded among personnel.


In Plateau and Kaduna states, security forces responded to distress calls, rescued injured victims, and arrested suspected kidnappers. Notably, troops rescued several kidnapped victims in Plateau and Benue states following coordinated operations.

In Kogi State, troops raided an illegal mining site, arresting suspects in possession of firearms. Additional operations led to the neutralisation of members of a kidnapping syndicate linked to a 2025 church abduction, as well as the rescue of multiple victims.
Security operatives also arrested suspected arms traffickers in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

In the South-South region, Operation Delta Safe troops carried out raids and checkpoints operations. In Edo State, a suspected criminal was arrested and motorcycles recovered during a joint operation with local hunters.

In Cross River State, a female suspect was apprehended while transporting ammunition allegedly purchased from Aba, Abia State.

South-East Operations

Troops under Operation Udo Ka continued operations against criminal elements linked to IPOB and ESN. In Anambra State, troops neutralised a suspected terrorist during a patrol operation and recovered weapons and other items.

In Enugu State, a targeted operation based on intelligence tracking of ransom payments led to the arrest of suspects and recovery of a firearm and cash.


Military Reaffirms Commitment
The military high command said the operations demonstrate its commitment to safeguarding lives and restoring peace across the country.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, commended troops for their professionalism and urged them to sustain the momentum. He also reassured Nigerians of the military’s resolve to dismantle all terrorist networks and ensure national security in line with international laws and rules of engagement.

The Armed Forces expressed appreciation to Nigerians for their continued support and cooperation in ongoing security operations.
